Do you need to appoint an Attorney?
This document is probably one of the most important legal documents that you will ever sign, appointing an Attorney/Attorneys to help manage your finances without taking away your independence.
Should you lose capacity having not made a Lasting Power of Attorney for Property and Financial Affairs, the Court of Protection may have to appoint a Deputy/Deputies to make those decisions for you. This is always more expensive and takes away your right to choose who should be appointed.
We can help guide you through these processes, providing you with advice and support. Our fees for obtaining a Lasting Power of Attorney to deal with your finances is £400 plus VAT (£80 at 20% totalling £480) and the disbursement of an £82 court fee. Our fees for obtaining Lasting Powers of Attorney’s to deal with both finance and Health & Welfare is £600 plus VAT (£120 at 20% so totalling £720) and the disbursement of an £164 court fee. Our fees for obtaining a Deputyship Order are £800 plus VAT (£160 at 20% totalling £960) plus typical disbursements of a £385 court fee; GP’s report (around £100) and security bond of £35.
