Nichola Thorpe

Partner and Head of Family

Nichola Thorpe is a Partner and Head of the Family Department at Phillips Solicitors. She also works within the firm’s Criminal Defence Department. Based at the Mansfield office, Nichola regularly meets clients at our Shirebrook and Nottingham offices and has spent more than two decades helping people through complex and often challenging legal situations.

Nichola joined Phillips Solicitors in January 2004 and completed her training contract with the firm before qualifying as a Solicitor in August 2005. She holds an LLB, achieved in 2000, followed by the Legal Practice Course (LPC) in 2001. Throughout her career, Nichola has worked across both family and criminal law, gaining extensive experience supporting clients at some of the most difficult periods of their lives. Her particular area of interest is Care Proceedings, where she advises and represents parents and family members involved in proceedings concerning children.

Nichola is passionate about helping vulnerable people and ensuring that every client receives the support, advice and representation they need. She understands that legal proceedings can be stressful and overwhelming and takes pride in guiding clients through the process with clear advice and a practical, supportive approach. For Nichola, the most rewarding aspect of her work is helping clients achieve the best possible outcome in difficult circumstances.

Having been with Phillips Solicitors since 2004, Nichola has played an important part in the firm’s development and growth, progressing into a leadership role whilst remaining committed to the personal service that clients value. Her experience, dedication and long-standing connection to the firm have made her a trusted adviser to many clients and families across Nottinghamshire and beyond.

Outside of work, Nichola is actively involved in her local community as a Brownie and Guide Leader. She is also a keen supporter of Manchester City Women and enjoys attending Women’s Super League matches whenever she can.
