Katie Lawton
Paralegal and Accredited Police Station Representative, Criminal Defence Department
Katie Lawton is a Paralegal and Accredited Police Station Representative in our Criminal Defence Department. She represents clients at the police station and assists with the preparation and progression of cases before the Crown Court.
Katie joined Phillips Solicitors in March 2026, bringing with her five years of previous Criminal Defence experience. She began her career working in civil litigation before moving into criminal law, giving her a varied legal background and strong foundations in case preparation and client care.
Katie holds an LLB, achieved in 2019, and an LLM, completed in 2021. She has continued to build on her academic and practical experience through her work within criminal defence.
Criminal law is Katie’s particular area of interest. As an Accredited Police Station Representative, she advises and assists clients who are being interviewed by the police. In her Crown Court role, she works alongside solicitors, barristers and other members of the Criminal Defence team to support clients and help ensure their cases are properly prepared.
Katie understands that the legal system can feel unfamiliar and overwhelming, particularly for those facing a criminal investigation or prosecution. What she enjoys most about her work is helping clients understand the process and ensuring they feel heard. She aims to provide clear explanations, practical support and reassurance throughout their case.
Outside of work, Katie enjoys spending time with her horse. She also enjoys travelling, visiting new places and experiencing different surroundings.
