Ami-Jo Bailey is a Paralegal and Accredited Police Station Representative in the Criminal Defence Department. She assists clients with police station matters and Crown Court cases, supporting individuals throughout the criminal justice process and helping them access the advice and representation they need at challenging times.

Ami-Jo joined Phillips Solicitors in 2011 after completing her law degree and has spent her entire legal career with the firm. Having developed her knowledge and experience within the Criminal Defence Department over many years, she has become a valued member of the team and has built a strong understanding of criminal law and the support clients require when facing investigations and prosecutions.

Working primarily on police station and Crown Court matters, Ami-Jo assists clients through what can often be one of the most stressful and uncertain periods of their lives. She recognises the importance of clear communication, practical advice and ensuring that clients feel supported throughout their case.

Criminal law has always been the area of practice that most interests Ami-Jo. She enjoys the variety that the work brings and the opportunity to assist people from all walks of life. Her focus is on helping clients understand the legal process, addressing their concerns and supporting them in achieving the best possible outcome based on their individual circumstances.

What Ami-Jo enjoys most about her role is guiding people through difficult situations and providing reassurance when they need it most. She understands that many clients have little or no experience of the criminal justice system and aims to offer a calm, approachable and supportive presence throughout the process.

Outside of work, Ami-Jo’s time is largely spent with her three children. Between dance lessons, gymnastics and family life, she has a busy schedule away from the office. Alongside her family commitments, she continues to develop her professional knowledge and remains committed to furthering her career within criminal defence.
